Mansei-en is owned and operated by Master Hatsuji Kato and his son, Haruhiko. Hatsuji, is the son of the late and great Master Saburo Kato. This nursey is replete with world class bonsai some of which are well known and important masterpieces. An area of the garden is also dedicated to a special display where ezo spruce groupings are arranged to reflect the Russian coastlines that Master Saburo Kato was so fond of. If there is one garden in Japan that carries historical signicance, it would be Mansei-en.
